In General
A Road Captain should lead by example. Although any member may lead a ride, it is still up to the Road Captains to insure that the rides are as safe as possible. Therefore in case a member other than a Road Captain is leading a ride, a Road Captain will ride in the number two position, right of lead.
You are required to attend Road Captain meetings and rides will be assigned. If you are assigned a ride, the planning, including adequate fuel and rest room stops, will be the responsibility of the assigned Road Captain. A pre-ride briefing with the Road Captains will be held in order for all to get the directions from the assigned Road Captain. In the case of a member other than a Road Captain leading the ride they will brief the Road Captain's prior to the briefing for the Chapter.
The Safety Officer has final authority in the selection of Road Captains, the ride assignments for the Road Captains, and for all safety related issues of Chapter sponsored rides. Any person applying, but not selected, to be a Road Captain may appeal the Safety Officer's decision directly to the Board of Directors.
